Reading Arendt one passage at a time

Reading Coetzee

Spending time with Coetzee has a peculiar affect on time. Things begin to fall into place, I feel like I have engaged with a conciousness at work. He is so accessible in each of his lines, and we always know that they are his.

I can always listen to him.

Foe - a story about silence, islands and words. A bareness to the story, as if it has been distilled to its core ideas, no extra flesh is needed, at all.

Life and Times of Michael K - A yearning for internal life. To make a claim to a spiritual life, to life of the mind, to life that is concious of itself and as itself.
